Partner API Outage
Incident Report for Firstup
Postmortem

Incident Date: June 2nd, 2021

Customer Impact: All Partner API (PAPI) users.

Description: Between the hours of 3:00 pm UTC (08:00 am PT) and 8:15 pm UTC (01:15 pm PT) on June 2nd, 2021, the SocialChorus Partner API experienced degradation of service. Users were receiving 403 Forbidden errors when attempting to invoke the PAPI.

Root Cause Analysis: An issue was identified with our authorization process for the PAPI that prevented the proper authentication scopes to be assigned to tokens. A list of our authorization scopes can be found here: https://partner.socialchorus.com/authorization#Scopes

Future Preventative Measures: Our engineering team has created several projects for enhancing automated monitoring of the PAPI. Reducing the time to identification and isolation if any issues do arise.
